エゴイズム Egoism (Koyasu Takehito x Nakahara Shigeru)
I am under the impression that this title by Ryowa sensei is very old.. or not very popular. I'm not sure. Strange. I wonder why it is not more well known, since I believe this is a great addition to any BLCD fan's 'light hearted/humorous BLCD' collection, and I personally enjoyed this very much.
Suzuro is an actor famous for his 'cool and unfeeling' character (until now I do not understand why girls find this attractive). In reality his character resembles that of a very very goofy puppy, which he has very successfully hidden from public view. The object of his seemingly unrequited love is this children's author called Natsu, who is pretty bad at socializing and has asthma which acts up every now and then. You will find out why, later. He has a bad aunt, a very bad brother and basically a bad situation back home.
So.. Suzuro does things like cook Natsu's favorite foods, demand that Natsu hears him say 'goooood morningggg' to him first thing every morning, beg in a dogeza position for sexy time like やらせてください!お願いします!, getting all fired up and saying to himself がんばろうなぁ、ムスコ!when thinking of said sexy time, happily leaving a wad of notes behind when Natsu jokes that he should pay him for sexy time, etc etc. His dorkiness is incredible and is a joy to listen, especially in Koyasu san's voice.
You can read the manga

交渉人は黙らないシリーズKoushounin wa Damaranai Series (Koyasu Takehito x Hirakawa Daisuke)
This is also one of my old favorites, perhaps my favorite. in fact, this was one of the few series for which i actually attempted (read: attempt) the painful journey of reading the novels in their original language before the BLCD got released, simply because i couldn't wait.
this series is smart, has interesting character and plot development. it also has humour that works and a very optimum amount of angst. plus i hardly guessed the endings right. no one BLCD series has ever made me laugh so much.
the first drama starts by introducing mebuki akira (hirakawa daisuke) to you and his job as a freelance negotiator. he runs his own office with a nice aged lady called sayuri and part timer kiyo, a man who speaks very little. you will also figure out that he doesn't like yakuza, is rather intelligent but talks too much and is kind of dorky in a very cute way. follow him as he reunites with, by chance, his kouhai called hyoudo juuetsu who happens to be wakagashira of suo-gumi. hyoudo is obviously very much besotted with him and hires him to get closer to him. akira accepts the job but gets pissed off with the sekuhara like treatment from hyoudo. much hilarity ensues. their backstories are explained later on.
メブキ: あっち向いていろ!お前の目は厭やらしいんだよ。眼鏡の奥からじろじろ見られると妊娠しそうだ!
ヒョウード: べつにいいですよ、妊娠しても。ちゃんと責任はとらせてもらいます。
akira: look the other way! your eyes are lecherous. feels like i will get pregnant with you just staring at me from behind your glasses.
hyoudo: it's fine if you get pregnant, i'll take responsibility.
the second drama will entertain you, like the first one did. there's something unbearably funny about a seme trying all ways and means to get access to his uke's ketsu, while his uke absolutely refuses to give it up, after which the seme will sulk. the heated hyoudo-shimeno exchange near the end of the drama is the funniest seme-seme showdown i've heard in a long while. it's also funny when the drama ends with the uke sheepishly admitting he had let his seme wait too long. hyoudo joyfully suggets memorialising the moment with a photo. hyoudo also screws up the historic moment by forgetting rubber. I also liked the last track which was a perfect wrap up the main plot. a nice summary of some funny moments by a fellow fujoshi is here.
the third book opens with akira trying to catch a swindler that cheats old people. poor akira gets squashed under 3 sumou wrestlers while trying to do so and hurt his back. his friend shimeno insists on helping him put the compression pad on his back and even offered a massage. hyoudou and hakuta.. just has to walk in unannounced at the moment shimeno's hand was on mebuki's ass. mebuki, mebuki, mebuki why does this always happen to you?
hyoudou: *says to hakuta while staring down at shimeno and akira* are you carrying a gun?
hakuta: i offer my sincere apologies for not carrying one today. there's an apple in here if you want *gestures at the fuit basket he is golding*
hyoudou: i won't be able to kill him if i hit him with that right?
and when mebuki came back to the room after seeing shimeno out, hyoudou was sitting on the sofa sulkily eating a banana. from the fruits basket he brought. the cuteness of the whole mental picture almost killed me. and mebuki! the oyaji gyagu he spouts and the hopelessly oyaji trains of thought he has when it comes to ayaka makes me relieved that he's still the cheerful anti-romanticist he was since the first instalment.
.. and i haven't finished the book because i am far too lazy to read words of a foreign language when a BLCD reads it out for me. still waiting for the third installment, which doesn't seem to want to be released.
BAD BOYS! えーちゃん (Hiyama Nobuyuki x Morikawa Toshiyuki)
i am under the impression that this is a rather dated work by Gou Shiira. Still this has always been one of my old favorites.
yazaki eikichi (morikawa) is your typical truck yarou with heavily gelled hair and old fashioned ways. he has a son who aspires to be a guitarist in a rock band. you will later find out that he still mourns a bromance partner who passed away a long time ago. you will also find out later that his son is actually that said bromance partner's. anyway during one of his deliveries in hokkaido, he meets a strange gaijin called jon (hiyama) who has a big appetite for anything japan related and japanese and who promptly falls in love with him. hilarity ensues, often centred around eikichi related silliness, jon's weird foreign ways and his overly large uh, assets.
this drama is purely responsible for my not being able to look at the words 'futomaki/hosomaki', 'bazooka', and 'pencil' (in order of appearance in the drama) the same way again.
COLD シリーズIII: Cold Fever (Hatano Wataru x Nojima Kenji)
This is the series finale of Konohara Narise's COLD series, and is not for those looking for cute stuff. this series was designed to sadden. after i read the 3 novels the series was based on, i have been putting off listening to the second and third installments of the BLdrama, for a good reason.
which i obviously forgot, because i listened to them the other day and they made me damn sad after that. you can almost.. feel tooru's confusion as he tries to grapple with his returned memories and his situation with fujishima. and when he fails to do so, resort to the only thing he understands.. violence. and fujishima, taking it all. shit. i dissolved into tears after reading the last paragraph of COLD FEVER the novel in mandarin, and i think i'll be more miserable if i read the japanese version.
but in a sense, the novel reached completion, albeit in a strange way. fujishima did love the impetuous, foul mouthed kid tooru was, even as mindwiped, angelic tooru fell in love with fujishima. in a sense, those 6 years fujishima had with a gentle and kind tooru seemed to be some kind of repayment for the wrongs fujishima suffered, a kind of temporal period of escapism. in the end, he did get what he originally wanted. though i wish konohara narise didn't need to describe in poignant detail the abuse tooru had to suffer at fujishima's hands before he finally got to his senses.
金環蝕 Kikanshoku (Ishii Kouji x Shiozawa Kaneto)
picked up this dubious looking bldrama called 金環蝕, kinkanshoku, which apparently means 'corona', the bright ring around a full solar eclipse.
i know shiozawa kaneto fans are going to kill me for this, but i doubt i may pick up any shiozawa dramas for a long time. he doesn't sound.. human-like. his voice is all wheezing, breath and wind and he accentuates his words at wierd places in his speech. and he sounds like he is speaking through his nose most of the time. i think i never recovered from his role as iason mink in ai no kusabi. 金環蝕 is full of angst, or should i say nothing but. an army colonel, betrayed by a traitor. had his entire fleet wiped out. was wrongly accused of war crimes and made into a war criminal. unable to return to his country, he was forced to become a male prostitute. was bought over by the very person that betrayed him. his physical strength deteriorates. it's more or less the regular yaoi sob story, and it gets tiresome after awhile.
and the names of the characters! i had hell trying to figure out what their names were from the accompanying katakana in the booklet. so the shiozawa's character's name is 'cut fragrance', and okiayu's character is 'mellrose vicious'? dont get me started on how to convert the traitor's name into english, i really have no idea. if i try, it'll be something like 'crisis rollshanti'. that's some really strange names.
what really saved this was the orchestral pieces interspersed into the flow of the story. i wonder if they were specially composed for this bldrama.
デッドロック外伝: シンプレックス Deadlock Gaiden: Simplex (Yusa Kouji x Toochika Youchi)
i've a feeling aida saki's deadlock series made so much money that they kept releasing.. it's quite funny actually. so there's deadlock I, II, III, bangaihen love begets love, and now they've released a gaiden in rob's POV.
not that i'm complaining. rob's such a nice person, you'll feel really sorry for him if he didnt get his well deserved happy-ever-after, after getting dumped by yuuto haha. besides, aida saki really is an amazing storyteller; i was actually quite sad when i had to stop halfway through the bldrama and start work.
yoshua's seiyuu was actually good enough to compell me to search the net for his name. toochika youichi.. i've never heard him around before, because he has only done roles in animes i've never heard of. maybe deadlock's his first yaoi title. perhaps yusa kouji just sliced open a watermelon? ;P toochika youichi has this throaty voice, and when he tells rob ゛直接舐めてください゛ in that breathless voice of his, i got goosebumps.
i wouldnt have guessed who the killer was, if hiyama nobuyuki hadnt sounded so perverted. the drama started with his evil maniacal laughter, so i guess all you needed to do was to wait for the character he voices to appear ._. it kind of spoiled it for me.
愛玩少年 Aigan Shounen (Koyasu Takehito x Tachibana Shinnosuke)
recalled the day i stumbled across this manga called 'aigan shounen', which piqued my interest because i remember vaguely downloading the BLdrama some 3 years ago. turned out that it was SM themed. not the humourous kind, but the mirthless, twisted kind.
and i'm sure everyone knows that SM-themed plots usually don't get anywhere, and as usual this one didnt. how much plot can you expect when the whole manga's about beating and screwing the uke in various creative ways with many different unlikely instruments? apparently some people in the forum said that the audio drama was easy to understand. duh, when there are more cries of pain than actual dialogue in japanese.
anyway young seiji who is in an abusive family gets injured when he runs into the path of baron's car. he instantly falls in love with the baron, for some crazy reason. years later he gets sold as a slave to.. guess whose mansion. the mansion houses a crazy albino baron, a crazy mask wearing guardsman, and two crazy boys who dress in girls' clothing. they proceed to screw seiji in multiple creative ways. throw a crazy doctor into the mix and you get a mostly crazy story which is (strangely) redeemed by a sweet ending.
recently relistened to aigan shounen BLdrama, just to hear the hilarious freetalk again. i need to translate that freetalk, once i have time. it's priceless, with koyasu poking fun at the naughty title and being so chirpy and all, since he's finally in his element. isnt it abit disturbing that he has done every single S role in recent memory? ;P checked up the meaning of the phrase aigan '愛玩'. -_-.. it's abit freaky if it comes before shounen, no wonder koyasu actually commented on the title. guaranteed that i dont like BL romance fluff, but the other extreme on the other end of the spectrum is.. er rather tasteless sometimes. if koyasu didnt do the baron i would have picked it up in the first place, since i usually go rabid clicking on anything that had his name on it.
and i do identify with some elements of sado-masochism, but i guess i will never understand the basic motives. fun and light hearted play with equipment is fine but.. for example, i don't get how someone can whip his partner senseless or hit him across the face with a mace and then tell him '愛してます。' afterwards. or how the masochist will profess his love for the sadist after getting his rectum torn. it's strange and unconvincing. maybe i'll ask some SM people next time, if i ever get to know one. it'll be interesting to know how their logic works.
デコイ囮鳥 Decoy Kachou (Koyasu Takehito x Kondou Takashi)

デコイ囮鳥 was so good that i'm rendered speechless. it's the best so far since the deadlock series, which also happens to be a dramatized version of another one of aida saki's novels.
apparently, it's a spillover story of aida saki's esu series, with familiar side characters like munechika keigo and shinozuka hideyuki.
the first track starts off by telling you that someone called yasumi (kondou takashi) had fallen down the stairs while clutching a gun with blood stained hands. then you find out he had lost his memory. i admit, at that moment i thought it'll be one of those predictable amnesiac dramas that usually have uninteresting and unimpressive endings, but i was wrong XD.
さすが aida saki, to present a story full of twists and unexpected turns in the plot. you find out that hino (koyasu takehito) isnt the nice gentle person you would think he is. you'll find out that yasumi isnt even called yasumi. and aida saki maintains the cynical/black tone which is prevalent in all her novels, reminiscent of (some) british authors i follow.
and goodness, i was thinking koyasu would do some sadistic character. in decoy kachou he does a psychopathic contract killer, who can be quoted as not seeing any value in life whatsoever (even his own), therefore he doesnt feel any guilt or regret when he takes lives. he always does this this kind of character. always, it seems. seriously, when he lowers his voice to a whisper you'll actually feel a frisson down your back.
anyway, this dialogue excerpt touched me so much that i took up a pen and jotted it down. some parts of it reflected some of my feelings these few days. this was from the nagi x kagaya arc of the story.
and crap, the story doesn't end with this drama, there will be a sequel after this. cant wait already, though i know that the sequels will be out only after a few months.
excruciating wait.
白雨 Hakuu (Taniyama Kishou x Takeuchi Ken)
this was surprisingly good.
i really like takeuchi ken's dramas. somehow he can inject so much sincerity into his voice that the uke roles that he does sound so real, so genuine, that the whole drama seems to come alive, and you feel his character so much that when he cries, you feel like crying too.
密やかな情熱II: 情熱のゆくえ Hisoyaka na Jounetsu II: Jounetsu no Yukue (Konishi Katsuyuki x Okiayu Ryoutarou)
pretty illustrations by enjin yamimaru, who also did the nijuu rasen novels and saudade novels. series by touno haruhi, who writes very normal and predictable yaoi, so didn't expect a good story.
君を、愛している。
now i remember why i liked it, despite the fact that the uke wasnt.. too clean and pure in that sense. seiyuu wise, we cant really ask for anything better than konishi and okiayu. (espiecially okiayu! how many seiyuus can slide into both seme and uke roles so seamlessly like he does?) plot and character development of plot throughout 4 dramas was good, and listening to haruka and yoshito's love story actually makes me.. jealous.
デッドロックIII: デッドショット Deadlock III: Deadshot (Yasumoto Hiroki x Nakamura Yuichi)
'there is no such thing as a perfect partner.
yes, it is just as rob said, you dont meet the person you are fated to be with; you actually decide for yourself who that person will be. after deciding, you will like the person till the very end, without pursuing any ideals. that's why it is a more wonderful thing to love a person for 100 years than to love a 100 people.' - yuuto's reflections, from DEADLOCK III - DEADSHOT.
anyway. i think i died of happiness myself when dick (the naming sense.. -,-) and yuuto finally finally finally could get together for real at end of the drama. when their relationship was so fraught with huge obstacles (like the clashes between the CIA and FBI) and unfortunate positions they found themselves in throughout the entire course of 3 dramas. and seriously, i could go on and on, but i need to catch up on sleep i lost last night listening to it.
その唇に夜の露 Sono Kuchibiru ni Yoru no Shizuku (Morikawa Toshiyuki x Yusa Kouji)
have been looking forward to this since i read the manga. okay, i didn't like the seme and his warped sense of logic much, but it was pretty good overall and the idea of coupling on the bus was kind of.. hot, especially when wada was terrified and jittery and constantly looking at the rear mirror when he found out only wakae was left on the bus and that the bus was going to a park where usually no one will board or alight and they will be all alone. yes, that was my sadistic gene at work. the angst fest involving the two main characters (both of which are supposed to be tortured souls) gets a wee bit tiresome sometimes but it was overall OK.
but at the end, i was still puzzled as to why wada didn't explain what he did to the wakae back then when they were young. the ending was slightly abrupt and it's like one big question mark, though i don't think this drama will have a sequel. it ended with a sentence that got me thinking for awhile. food for thought.
キッズログ Kids Log (Kondou Takashi x Yoshino Hiroyuki)
this was full of cuteness that doesn't make you feel like throwing up, two characteristics that are usually not mutually exclusive. man, i love children in BLdramas, of course when they're not part of the pairing. the seme-uke-kiddo interaction was hilarious.
basically the seme's twin brother passed on and his that said twin's son believes the seme is his papa. seme takes care of him till his brother's ex wife comes to claim him, but end up becoming inseparable with his little nephew. the uke, who is a blonde preschool teacher, comes into the picture and messes things up. i loved it when the seme hears from the little boy about how his brother had told him that 'it's okay to jump of a roof because your brother's going to catch you below' when that really did happen and the seme broke some bones catching his brother while his twin brother escaped unscathed. i also loved it when the nacchi-sensei takes the seme's hand and declares he's going to become his son in order to goad the seme's little nephew into action. and it is also interesting to note that there was no yaoi scene and almost no BL in it. thank goodness, because i might have to skip an entire track if i ever had to hear yoshino hiroyuki's aegikoe again. sequel? i hope so.
花が降ってくる Hana ga Futtekuru (Kazama Yuuto x Kondou Takashi)
the uke's basically someone who devotes himself to entomology and who can't live on his own, and the seme is someone who have been taking care of him since goodness knows when. usually i would dislike ukes without spines, but akihiro's qualities make him endearing, somehow, if only he'd stop crying so often. yet i believe this is the kind of bldrama that makes us fangirls unconsciously dream of having what the uke has someday. though akihiro may be a big dear, you can't really imagine that kyouichi would drop an engagement to a perfectly wonderful beautiful woman, give up the idea of having children, endanger his job and status in his family and basically throw away everything for someone like akihiro. that's not possible. that will make love both blind and deaf.
喝愛 Katsuai (Koyasu Takehito x Matsumoto Yasunori)
on a side note, the rather depressing cover of this Bldrama will give you good indication that this is not your archetypal happy shounen-ai story.
have been relistening to the bldramatized version of katsuai and katsuai II bakuren by yoshihara rieko (which spans 6 cds = about 7 hours of non-stop audio) probably the 4th or 5th time i'm relistening to it.
the script is full of difficult, cheem, never-heard-before japanese phrases, idioms and paradoxes. everytime i relisten i understand something i didnt understand before and have a few revelations XDD.
again i wonder why this bldrama is so addictive despite the fact that i understand only 60-70 percent of it; since the general mood of the drama is always black and the characters not very likable (koyasu in katsuai played the role of the worst and most uncaring/cruel seme in my bldrama listening history, with no love for his uke all. (rather, i wont call what he had for his uke love).
still, all the taboo topics and the 人生 and 人間 philosophies gave it a very poetic feel. yoshihara rieko's novel might have been a good read.
青の軌跡 IV: バロック・パール Ao no Kiseki IV: Baroque Pearl (Morikawa Toshiyuki x Nakahara Shigeru)
have always been a fan of this series, but after finishing ao no kiseki 04 - baroque pearl yet again, i happened to realise what a sad sad thing it is to hate your own existence. when sanshirou begged gai again and again to get off the ship with isis and raise him to be an expressive lunan with a big appetite for life (how he was supposed to be anyway) who never knew the self loathing person he would become (referring to kai), well. i think i had to fight off an urge to cry.
there is a very good summary of kunou chiaki's entire ao no kiseki series here.
by the way kunou chiaki wrote her novels, i think she wanted us to fall in love with kai, but i ended up liking sanshirou alot more. XDDD
excerpt:
Rin! (Toriumi Kousuke x Fukuyama Jun)
didnt expect too much out of this, but it was really sweet
and was alot better than i thought it would be;
katsura (fukuyama) has this psychological problem called 上がり症
(hypertension i think) due to a childhood accident. when he was five, his bicycle very
nearly collided with a car and he suffered a broken bone. his childhood friend, shibata sou, then only six,
had cradled him in his arms while waiting for an ambulance and had
told him that as long that he was holding him he would be alright, and nothing bad will happen.
after that, right up
to high school, katsura would suffer anxiety attacks before his exams, archery examinations etc etc and would only calm
down only when shibata enfolds him in his arms. until one day even that didnt work anymore..
シナプセの柩II Synapse no Hitsugi II
(Konishi Katsuyuki x Nojima Kenji)
was waiting in anticipation for the about 4 months for
syanpse no hitsugi's sequel to be released in japan so that i could get it on the forum.
cant say i was disappointed, but i expected the sequel to be
better x.x the middle part of
the drama was slightly rushed and messy, as aida saki tried to tie up all the loose ends of the story. at first, i thought kirishima was only pretending to have
lost his memory, if it was so, it'll really be brilliant writing on aida saki sensei's part. yet, the ending was rather unfinished, reminiscent of the
borderline series, but it was just as impactful. we werent told whether
kirishima will hand himself over to the police, higuchi has not found out that kirishima had willingly let himself be nagayama's accomplice in the past. he hasnt
even found out that kirishima had fully regained his memory. but kirishima, with nojiken's
voice, said this haunting last sentence:
湖の底には、もう、だれも沈んではいなっかた。
gaaa. so sad >< i wont be forgetting this series for
quite some time.
おまえわ、愛を食う獣。Omae wa Ai wo Kuu Kedamono
(Ono Daisuke x Miki Shinichirou)
this was alot of fun
XD.
for some reason, miki shinichirou always get to do very interesting characters.
in this yakuza drama, he does the type of uke that i like very very very much.
XD. one who openly admits his feelings for his seme but doesnt dumb down or
lose himself to his seme after that. esp when his seme asks him if he would
wait for him until he stabilizes as wakagashira of ichinosegumi, yuya's reply
was : 待ってはいないけど、期待しているよ。[i wont be waiting for you, but i'll be
anticipating it (your return)]
最高だね。XD
デッドロックI Deadlock I (Yasumoto Hiroki x Nakamura Yuichi)
aaaaah Q(^o^)Q
i cant find a way to write a summary of the plot w/o any
spoilers, so i wont write one.
the illustrations were so gorgeous that i got it despite the
relatively unknown shinjin main cast.. (yasumoto hiroki did sado in bleach) they did pretty well,
but nakamura yuichi's uke can be perfect with a little more practice hohoho~
didnt expect the dialogue, plot and story to be so brilliant
and so dramatic. kept me awake for about 2 plus hours refusing to sleep till the end wahaha. and the ending!! i couldnt
have predicted it. and it had to be a bittersweet ending, with a feeling as if the story hasnt
quite been completed, like これから始まる when i don't know if there will be
asequel. >< it's driving me mad, it really is.
黒い愛情 Kuroi Aijou (Midorikawa Hikaru x Hirakawa Daisuke)
this title fits this drama >_>. the entire 2 discs
of the drama is so black and twisted that i shudder recalling it.. midorikawa
breaks his stereotype of either a very sweet/explosive uke by doing a very very
sado seme. his character is such a
megalomaniacal freako that i have no idea what his uke (hirakawa daisuke) sees
in him. (except that uke-san is slightly unbalanced and wonky up there, so..)
their relationship is so warped that when they confessed their undying love at
the end of the drama, i remain unconvinced. and unimpressed. it's so ironic that
both of them are psychologists, when both are in dire need of professional help
themselves.
midorikawa did a surprisingly good job as katou ryou, a
control freak with a problem with his overriding dokusenyoku.(the type who
would actually kill his uke if he found his uke uwaki-ing. o.o) hirakawa did
this uke whom i didnt like, cos of his weak resolve and lack of resistance and
spunk.
the bgm was nice and extremely mood setting, the jarring
violin and piano piece scared the crap out of me when i was listening to it
with my lights off. altogether, this drama's plot is solid and good enough to
make you want to listen to it to the end, and therefore well worth he time
spent on it, but i'll stick to lighthearted SM, thank you very much.
執事の特権 Shitsuji no Tokken (Sugita Tomokazu x Nojima Kenji)
nojima kenji as a person who, although intelligent, has
obsessive compulsive disorder (washes hands constantly)and an overpowering fear
of human contact. no one is allowed to touch him without gloves.
sugita does his seceretary, this character so perfect that
one can never find a guy like him, even if one scourges the earth.
and there's a super hilarious scene somewhere in the middle,
which earned it a mention here XD
シナプセの柩I Synapse no Hitsugi I (konishi katsuyuki x nojima kenji)
here it is: kirishima minato is currently leading a very miserable life. his mom left him when he was in high school. his father commited suicide when he was in university, by drowning himself after his small hospital got caught up in a scandal and got almost bankrupt. kirishima only managed to complete univeristy and become a surgeon due to the help of celebrated professor nagayama, whom he was very thankful to. but nagayama kyoujuu has an ulterior motive..
after kirishima came to work for him, nagayama demanded that all of kirishima's future research work and papers were to be publicised under his nephew's name. so nagayama's nephew got all the credit for kirishima's wonderful work. kirishima could not refuse, cos he cant go anywhere, but nor can he run away by applying to another institution as all his research papers were being taken away from him. furtheremore, nagayama was this hentai oyaji who demanded yaoi from him. and again kirishima had no choice but to relent. 8 yrs passed.
then one day, this surgeon higuchi youichirou from new york arrived, and he had a reputation for being being successful in many difficult operations. kirishima saw his chance to finally escape, and, when alone with higuchi, begged him to teach him his operation techniques so that he can, together with research he was secretly doing, apply for this medical institution in new york, far away from the influence of nagayama kyoujuu. in return, he will, well, agree to yaoi. higuchi agreed. so they met, at night, in the research lab, and higuchi imparted to him his techniques and even gave him some of his own old research data which gave kirishima a headstart on the work he was doing. they steadily grew to like each other.
Kirishima once told higuchi “shindara, kono yubi de kaibou shite kudasai.” Higuchi must have thought he was joking. kirishima collated his application and sent half of it to new york, when nagayama was away in Canada.
when nagayama returned, he called kirishima to his office and threw the application in front of him. He had actually known what kirishima was up to and he had gone to new york to revoke his application. he then started to er, maul him, saying that he could destroy higuchi’s reputation anytime he want, he’s that powerful and influential. Unknowing to kirishima, he had called higuchi to his office at the same. Higuchi burst in on them, and was appalled at the scene. He then left the room in a temper, banging the door. After that, nagayama took a scalpel and left a wound on kirishima’s fingers, not too deep but serious enough to prevent him from practicing operating skills with higuchi for a good while.
It started to rain outside, with thunder and lightning. Kirishima staggers back to the lab in pain, looking
for first aid, and finds higuchi there waiting for him. Higuchi reveals that he came back to japan only under
the pretense of accepting nagayama’s job offer, he was actually sent here to as a spy, as the professors in
US already suspected that nagayama was forcing kirishima to surrender his work under someone else’s name. he asks if kirishima really wanted to run away from japan and go to new york. Kirishima thinks dully to himself, that higuchi only showed interest in him becaused he was sent here to investigate the matter. He also remembered nagayama’s threat. So he told higuchi that he only wanted his research papers, and that he was nagayama’s ally. higuchi announces coldly that he prays that nagayama and kirishima will not suffer too much retribution, and that he would return to New York,
Just before he left the room, he said “actually i..” and faltered, before saying “never mind,” and turning to leave. In his mind, kirihshima was begging him not to leave. When the door clicked shut on him, kirishima was left alone with all his hopes dashed. “itteshimatta. New work e iku yume mo naku natta. Ato wa moto no seikatsu ni modoru dake. [he left. The dream to go new york is also gone. All I can do is to go back to the life I had been leading before that.] Depressed, and having lost all hope, he opened the window, wind from the storm outside blowing into the room and scattering the papers. He wished to go back to the lake that he once lived beside when he was young and had nothing but good memories. Just as he placed one foot over the ledge, the door opened, and higuchi beginning his sentence with “yahari omae wa..” then the horrified “kirishima?” kirishima simply smiled “sayounara..” before disappearing out of view, and plunging down 5 storeys.
Kirishima didn’t die. He was cushioned before he fell, and miraculously only suffered only a broken bone. But when he awoke, he had a mentality of a young child, with no memories of his adult life. Apparently, he had gotten his wish. And nagayama kyoujuu dropped him fast when he found out that kirishima couldn’t be made use of anymore. Higuchi swore to bring him up and take care of him for the rest of his life.
